Rumour today emerged that Queens Park Rangers are showing a keen interest in Carlisle player Simon Hackney. QPR boss Ian Dowie was today rumoured to be interested in taking Simon Hackney to Loftus Road on a permanent basis.
Hackney, originally joined Carlisle from Woodley Sports and for much of last season was one of the leading performers in blues promotion challenge. This isn't the first time the player has been linked with a move away from Brunton park, with league one outfit Leeds also rumoured to be interested earlier this year.
With United boss John Ward stating that he doesn't expect any transfer activity to take place within the club before Mondays deadline, it seems that any move for the player would be unlikely at this stage of proceedings.
Blues fans can take some pride that several of the first team that almost achieved promotion last season have seemingly been head-hunted by several league one sides, with Cardiff City at one time rumoured to be interested in Danny Livesey.
Only time will tell if John Ward can keep together the nucleus of the side that did so well for him. One thing that is for certain, this wont be the last of the transfer speculation surrounding Uniteds top stars.
Carlisle, meanwhile, are preparing to rid themselves of the memory of the midweek 4-0 demolition job done on them by QPR. Taking three points off Yeovil Town at Brunton Park tomorrow would be an ideal way to help the memory fade and to maintain their unbeaten league record.
