Abbott: We're there on merit

Carlisle maintained their grip on a league one play-off spot with a 0-0 draw with Preston on Tuesday night.

Greg Abbott feels that Carlisle are in the play-off spot 'on merit' and is looking for them to get the job finished.

Focusing too much on getting this isn't something that is happening but Abbott feels that a play-off spot can be Carlisle's: 'we're there on merit and we'll keep this going as long as we can.

'We have worked hard to get here and will give the last 10 games the best possible effort we can.'

Carlisle are now 15 games unbeaten at Brunton Park and if this remains the case until the end of the season then Abbott feels that his side have a 'real fighting chance' of being one of the four in the play-offs: 'I don't think the players have talked about it. But if we can go unbeaten to the end of the season it gives us a real fighting chance of making the play offs.

'We want to see it through. We're delighted with this group of players, who go out and give everything. Their effort has been unquestionable. They're a great group and that's carrying us all the way through and they might just get there.'
