Cook back at Carlisle for another month

Jordan Cook has returned to Carlisle for another loan spell.

Having returned to Sunderland to discuss his future it had now been agreed that the striker will return to Brunton Park for another month.

Cook, as he told the official website, would have liked to have stayed longer than a month but that is as long as he can and that is preferable to reserve football: 'I had no hesitation about coming back for another month as I felt that I gained a lot during my initial spell at the club.

'When I went back to Sunderland we discussed a few things about how the first two months had gone and looked ahead to next season, but they were happy for me to return here.

'Although it's frustrating that the deal can only be extended for another 31 days, the alternative is playing reserve-team football and I'd much rather come here and get more first-team experience.'

21-year-old Cook has scored once in his six appearances thus far.
