Result - Oldham 2-1 Carlisle
Carlisle knew that they had to win at Oldham to have a chance of making the league one play-offs, and they could not manage this.
Victory was a must for Carlisle at Boundary Park, although other results had to go in their favour to for them to sneak into the final play-off spot and at half time this was looking unlikely with the game level at 0-0.
Early in the second half Oldham went ahead through Tarkowski (49) although Carlisle did level through Taiwo (68) midway through the second half.
The hosts secured a 2-1 victory when Tounkara (72) struck minutes after the equaliser.
As it happens wins for both Stevenage and Notts County meant that Carlisle would have missed out anyway, with Stevenage claiming the final play-off spot on goal difference.
