Trio close to signing new deals

Although Carlisle had the disappointment of seeing another two reject contracts offered to them three have agreed to extend their stays with the club.

Deals with James Berrett, Peter Murphy (pictured) and Frank Simek have been 'agreed deals in principle' anyway...

Greg Abbott, as he told the official website, has said that 'one or two minor details' need to be sorted before they can be finalised: 'we have spoken to all of them and even though we have one or two minor details to finalise we are in a situation where all three have agreed to stay with us.

'This is great news for us because these lads have played a big part in the improvement we have seen over the last few seasons. With these deals agreed it gives us a much better idea of the platform we have as we look to strengthen and kick on next season.'

Murphy is the clubs longest serving player having arrived in 2001; Berrett and Simek have been with the club for the past two-years.
