Decision time

Trialists that have spent some time with Carlisle during pre-season, some a number of weeks, will have their futures confirmed in the coming week.

Not all have lasted the pace but John Meades, Alessio Bugno and Dale Hopson have all impressed Greg Abbott with him knowing it is almost time, out of fairness for all concerned, for decisions to be made but there is a chance all three could be handed contracts. Although what the lengths of these would be is what is potentially the sticking point?

Mark Kerr would have made a good "squad player" but Abbott has decided to let him go with him likely to join a club in Scotland anyway whereas Ryan Donaldson will spend another week with the club before a decision is made.

Throughout the whole trial process it has been made clear that the players have to be of better quality than those already in place, or at least have enough to supplement the squad to make it stronger and Meades, Bugno and Hopson could well do that on short-term contracts initially (perhaps) if nothing else?
