Dale Hopson's trial with Carlisle has ultimately proven unsuccessful.
The 19-year-old former Darlington man had spent an initial three-weeks with the club with Greg Abbott then wanting another week before making a decision, which he now has.
Abbott spoke highly of the midfielder but had to make the tough decision that he wasn't quite what he was looking for in the end as he wasn't quite of sufficient improved quality to further improve his squad to make that "immediate impact" that he would have wanted.
Best of luck to Hopson, who will almost certainly find himself a new club in the coming weeks.
