Carlisle v Tottenham

Capital One Cup 3rd Round
26th Sept 2012
19:45
Brunton Park

Carlisle go in search of a League Cup upset tonight against Premier League outfit Spurs, with Greg Abbott sure that his side will "give Spurs a game" at Brunton Park in the third round.

On loan Joe Garner (cup tied) misses out for Carlisle though having played in the competition previously for his parent club Watford but another loanee Kallum Higginbotham could come into the reckoning though with permission granted.

Paul Thirlwell (concussion) and Danny Livesey (head) came off at the weekend but are expected to be fit; Lee Miller (knee) is again out.

Spurs will almost certainly make changes with the likes of Tom Huddlestone, Michael Dawson, Steven Caulker and Andros Townsend expected to come into the starting line-up while names such as Gareth Bale, Brad Friedel and William Gallas will be rested.

Emmanuel Adebayor (hamstring), Kyle Naughton (foot), Scott Parker (Achilles), Jake Livermore (groin), Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Younes Kaboul (both knee) will all definitely miss out though but Heurelho Gomes (ankle) is fit but French international Hugo Lloris will get the nod to start in goal.

Your Comments

Just wondering whether as a lower league club, you would have preferred to play spurs at home and have a greater chance of winning but make 50 grand or play away and earn 7 times that but have a much lower chance of progressing> I base that question on comments from within your club
