'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Abbott: A terrific advert for League One

Carlisle's comeback win at Walsall was "a terrific advert" for the league that both sides are in.

A win is what both sides wanted but it was The Cumbrians that managed this, Greg Abbott said: 'It was a fantastic game of football and a terrific advert for League One, with both sides trying to win the game.'

The turning point came when Liam Noble came on as a late sub, having been denied by a post almost instantly after his arrival in the 85th minutes he then had the composure to round the keeper and finish into the empty net in injury-time.

His "super sub" impact was praised by his boss with Abbot just thinking his side had the edge over a young Walsall side: 'He can play, and he's probably the best we have in that situation to score.

'I think we had that bit extra power, strength and experience with 24 and 25-year-olds rather than the 19 and 20-year-olds of Walsall, and that might be the problem they will have through the season in getting consistency.

'But I have a lot of time for Dean (Smith, Walsall manager) and his staff for what they are trying to do, with finances. It's difficult but he's doing a great job.'
