Late goals flatter Carlisle

Carlisle 4-2 Ebbsfleet
FA Cup 1st Round
3rd November 2012
15:00
Brunton Park

The final score "flattered" Carlisle but the most important thing was that they overcame a potential banana skin in Ebbsfleet in the FA Cup first round on Saturday afternoon.

Having been denied by a few saves it was Carlisle that went into the half time break with an injury-time goal from David Symington (45+1) separating the sides.

Just before the hour Nathan Elder (58) drew Ebbsfleet level but shortly after the hosts were ahead again when Liam Noble (61) restored the lead.

Two late goals from James Berrett (81) and Joe Garner (87), given permission by parent club Watford to feature, extended the lead but it was Ebbsfleet that had the final say when Joe Howe (90+3) struck in injury time, but it's Carlisle that advanced with a 4-2 win and avenged an upset by Ebbsfleet 50-years ago!
