'If It's Football, It's Vital'

It Happens, It's Football!

Sometimes you have to hold your hands up and admit that you made a mistake.

Having scored 21-goals in 32 outings for Yeovil the decision to let Paddy Madden leave Carlisle for The Glovers, initially on loan before a permanent move in January, is definitely looking like a bad one!

Greg Abbott, as he told the official website, is philosophical about this decision: 'Paddy Madden was an absolute credit. His time here was frustrating, but he has moved on and good luck to the kid.

'He showed a huge amount of respect with the way he conducted himself and we wish him all the best. He's a player playing with confidence and if he goes on to make the career he wants to make for himself then you have to be big enough and bold enough to hold your hands up and say you maybe got that one wrong.

'It happens, it's football, and some players do better at other clubs for a number for reasons. All I can say is that it didn't happen for him here and give a genuine good luck wish to the lad.'

Abbott's right sometimes things do not work for you at one club but they do at another.

However, you cannot help but wonder if Carlisle would have been challenging for promotion and Yeovil would have been in 17th (where The Cumbrians currently are) had the Irishman stayed at Brunton Park and been given a real go?
