30-Days To Consider Their Options

The time of year, when players are informed that they'll have to look elsewhere to have a future, is a tough one for all concerned.

Greg Abbott had to inform several players that they weren't being retained recently.

Having told the ones that aren't being kept that they won't the ones he wants to keep at Carlisle now have 30-days, as he told the official website, to decide what they want to do. He said: 'The players who have been offered contracts now have 30 days to consider their options before they make a response.

'That's only right and proper, and we obviously hope that all of them will decide to stay with us.'

Making such calls is always a difficult one, firstly with the decision and secondly with the delivering of the news. With it now done the process of "moving on" begins, he added: 'Overall, it has been a real drain on an emotional level

'The fact is that we are dealing with such good people that it is shattering to have to deliver bad news.

'However, we have to dust ourselves down and move on. My staff and I have a number of games to attend this week as we start to finalise our plans for the squad next season.

'That work will go on until we have the pieces in place to give us the best chance of putting smiles back on faces next season.'
