It Is Bang, Bang Rock Bottom

It Is Bang, Bang Rock Bottom

Could confidence have got much lowed after 5-1 and 4-0 defeat? You'd have thought not but it hit a new low with another 4-0 defeat for Carlisle on Saturday!

Only the fact that Coventry, the 4-0 victors at Brunton Park on Saturday, were docked 10-points this summer is stopping Carlisle from propping up the league one table...

Greg Abbott, as he told BBC Radio Cumbria, has described the situation at Carlisle as "rock bottom" at the moment. He said: 'It is bang, bang rock bottom.

'I have never been quite as low as I have been here. I didn't get relegated many times in my career but if we continue like that we will be.'

Its doom and gloom at the moment but Abbott insists his team is better than it would appear and the "desperate situation" can, and will, improve. He added: 'I know at the minute it might seem desperate but there is a different team in there underneath that.

'We have proved it and we have shown it and we think we have added to it.'

If reports are to be believed that Abbott might not have much time to prove that he does have a better side than results are suggesting!

However, assuming he does get more time, he'll desperately (even at this stage) need to get something from the weekend game as the league cup win over Blackburn isn't going to be enough to keep him afloat for much longer...
