Fleetwood In The JPT For Carlisle

A place in the quarter finals of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy was hard earned by Carlisle last week when we saw off Morecambe.

Many people's bet to struggle in league two this season were Morecambe, but they have surprised many and are flying high with us the only side (albeit on a technicality of a penalty shootout) to beat them in the last couple of months.

After the 0-0 draw in 90-minutes this meant the shootout and in this Carlisle truly shone and saw off the Shrimps 4-3 in the end, with some fine penalties.

That earned that place in the northern section quarter finals...

Saturday's draw, which took place live on Soccer AM on Saturday morning, has seen us paired with another league two club in the shape of Fleetwood.

Fleetwood only just missed out on the play offs last season and should be there or thereabouts for promotion this time round, so it'll be far from an easy game for us especially as we've got to travel to their Highbury Stadium for this.

Graham Kavanagh is keen for us to continue our run in this cup competition and I'd think that with a bit of luck on the night next month we can do this to move a step closer to the northern final, with the overall final just a few games away now!
