We Weren't Good Enough

Carlisle were well and truly beaten by Leyton Orient on Saturday afternoon when the promotion chasing side won 4-0 at the Matchroom Stadium.

Such a result didn't look to be on the cards, as for much of the first half Graham Kavanagh feel the Cumbrians controlled the threat posed by the O's but ultimately knows that Carlisle weren't good enough on the day.

The Carlisle boss said: 'We weren't good enough.

'I'm disappointed, particularly after the way we played in the first half having contained them for 40 minutes.

'But then we gave away a goal just before half-time, which is the worst time to concede, and then gave away a second straight after. From then, our confidence drained away.

'Leyton Orient are a very good side, they work extremely hard for each other.

'We now have to re-evaluate where we are as a team and get back to the basics and build from there.'

It was just before the break that Orient broke through, Craig Fleming had already made three fine saves but the 'keeper was finally beaten by Scott Cuthbert, Jamie Ness, Kevin Lisbie and Shaq Coulthirst completed the scoring.

What a difference a week makes, as they say. For as good as Carlisle were against Sunderland in the FA cup they were poor it seems against Orient and Kavanagh knows it'll take some hard work this week to right the wrongs.
