Villa's Drennan Signs On Loan

Carlisle have added to the squad ahead of the next league one this weekend, by bringing in a premier league forward.

Michael Drennan has been signed on a one-month youth deal from Aston Villa.

Graham Kavanagh has revealed that he's been watching the youngster, capped at various youth levels by the Republic or Ireland, for a while and hopes that with him now back to full fitness after injury he can get some goals for the Cumbrians.

The boss told the official website: 'He's been on our radar for a while.

'I've watched him play twice and he's a centre forward who knows where the goal is.

'He had a metatarsal injury last season so he's working his way back up to full fitness now. He's looking for an opportunity to show what he can do and we're happy to give it to him. Hopefully he'll get us some goals.'

Kavanagh believes that Drennan has the right attitude and desire to do the business for Carlisle during his loan spell, which will run until February 18th.
