'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Only Right To Stay

Pascal Chimbonda, at the end of a short term contract with Carlisle, could've easily walked away and signed for another club elsewhere.

That's assuming his agent, who said interest was being shown in the 34-year-old, was telling the truth?

Chimbonda didn't and signed a contract until the end of the season with him saying that he felt he needed to show this loyalty to Graham Kavanagh, and the club, after they brought him back into the professional game.

He told BBC Radio Cumbria: 'Kav gave me a chance back in football after so much time away so it was only right to stay for the whole season at the least.

'I'm enjoying things at Carlisle and I really wanted to show the manager my loyalty.

'I think he's happy with the commitment I've shown. There was interest from elsewhere but it really was not a hard decision to stay.'

Injury problems limited the former French international to spells with non-league clubs and meant he spent 15-months without a professional club after his release by Doncaster so I think it's fair to say that confidence was shown in him so it's good he's repaying this.
