Stepping Up To The Plate

Graham Kavanagh, as boss, can only do so much. He selects the side and gives them instructions but when out on the field it is up to the players to do the business.

The players need to 'step up to the plate' and deliver if Carlisle are going to stay in league one and Lee Miller insists that this is exactly what will happen definitely from himself, starting with the must win game against Oldham Athletic.

Following this Carlisle will face Crawley Town and then Wolverhampton Wanderers with their league one status on the line.

Miller told the News & Star: 'I've got to step up to the plate and the whole team has - not shy away from it. There's no point in playing the game if we don't feel we can get ourselves out of it.

'I'm sure there are a lot of twists and turns still to come in this relegation battle.

'We have to look after ourselves by getting the three points on Saturday, and then it's in our own hands.'

The Scottish striker doesn't feel that Carlisle have had much luck of late but knows that when the going isn't good this often happens but he is still convinced that the Cumbrians have enough good players, quality and character about them to stay up.

Do you feel that the players, including Miller, will 'step up to the player' as he says they will?
