New Lads Settling In Well

New Lads Settling In Well

Last week saw pre-season begin, at the end of it Graham Kavanagh took a long hard look at this and talk about various areas including how the new players have settled in.

He feels they have settled in 'well already' with him happy to get back into training and start the squad integration as this is the time when the real 'banter' and group bonding can begin, which was all good.

A squad overhaul was required this summer and Kavanagh believes that so many leaving, there were 13 in total, with some fresh faces has been a good thing as he could see it was a 'fresh group' as a result and that was needed.

Kavanagh told the official website: 'The new lads have all settled in well already.

'We went up to Talkin Tarn on Thursday morning and I did some of the running just to experience the banter and the communication around the group.

'It was fantastic. You can tell it's a fresh group and I think that's what we all needed. When you get rid of 13 players you're never sure how the ones you bring in will fit, but I've been really pleased with what I've seen so far.'

All sounds good and positive, however another fear that the boss had was a 'relegation hangover' with him a little concerned how the players that are still with the club would come back after what wouldn't really have been an enjoyable summer....

Fortunately he doesn't think that this has been a case, in fact there has been a 'new energy' with positivity in the air with players coming back thinking that they have 'a point to prove', time will tell if they prove it!
